The Case for Inclusion
It’s not hard to believe that the research shows that employees who feel a sense of belonging in the workplace are more productive, contributing favorably to a positive work environment. In a study carried out in March of 2019 by Weber Shandwick and United Minds in partnership with KRC Research, it was estimated that the total cost to businesses in the U.S. due to the loss of dissatisfied employees is nearly $6.8 billion per month. In the same study, 500 senior-level corporate professionals from high-revenue companies were surveyed and reported that aligning Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) with business strategy had a positive impact on reputation, employee retention, and financial success.

Beyond the Bottom Line
A Global Recruiting Trend report conducted by LinkedIn in 2018 found that 78% of companies surveyed prioritize diversity to improve culture and 62% do so to boost financial performance. According to their survey, the evidence strongly suggests that diverse teams are more productive, innovative, and engaged in their work.

Telecom Italia Makes Top 10
Telecom Italia (TIM) is the only telecom company to make Refinitiv’s 2019 list of the top 25 global companies with the most diverse and inclusive workplaces. The ranking is based on Refinitiv’s environmental, social, and governance data measured against the performance of 7,000 companies. TIM earned its place on the list for the second year in a row.

Diversity & Inclusion: More than Checking Boxes

University of South Florida Stands Out
The University of South Florida was awarded the 2019 High Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award which was presented by INSIGHT into Diversity magazine, higher-education’s oldest diversity-focused publication. With a student population that is 52% non-white, the school has eliminated the graduation rate gap by race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status and implements a wide variety of programs that prove their commitment to D&I.
